Sunshine Room

Sunshine Room

The Sunshine Room for 36 to 60 months

Our activities are focused around the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework. Our objective is essentially to prepare your child for full time education, and to ensure that this is done as effectively as possible. The Sunshine Room is where we do small group activities, for example listening games, introduce telling the time, communication, language and literacy, problem solving, science experiments, reasoning and numeracy.

During your child's session we will offer a well planned purposeful curriculum which comprises activities which are structured around each child’s individual developmental needs, as well as a broad choice of play activities on which we place great emphasis. The children in this room also have direct access to the outdoors which is very important for children as some children will learn better outdoors than in. The whole curriculum is available both indoor and out and allows all children to reach their individual potential.

Daily diaries are kept for each child which keeps you up to date on their nutritional intake, well being and progress.

We hold daily singing music/movement sessions and the children actively use the more simple musical instruments.

We help children to read and write by teaching them sounds through phonics and also do sign language which is introduced from babies to five years old.

The children are encouraged to enjoy books and familiarise themselves with a computer.
